The future will tie these universities even closer together. Tampere will introduce a new model of operation in 2019. The new Tampere University Foundation will merge UTA and TUT and it will become the major owner of TAMK.
– Combining the strengths of two universities and a university of applied sciences will create a university that is more diverse, international and influential, and one that will produce new information and expertise to benefit Finland and the whole of humanity, says Ms Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, Minister of Education and Culture.
The new university community will provide a unique hub for interdisciplinary research and an inspiring environment for learning. TAMK will make an impact by sharing its pedagogical expertise in professional higher education and its competence in applied research. The students will have access to new kinds of flexible study paths and versatile degrees that will serve the needs of the market.
